What We Do
There are a few different strings to the Cool Gourmet's bow. We run a busy tearoom whilst offering a limited takeaway menu, steaming from where the business that started off. On top of that, we provide catering for events and can offer private functions in the tearoom throughout the year. We also handcraft bespoke celebration cakes and sell a variety of freshly baked goods.

Our ethos is simple: we cook food that we would cook for ourselves at home. We are proud to say that everything we serve to our customers is made on the premises and we strive to sell food of the highest quality. All our food is cooked from scratch using fresh ingredients. As a small, local business we like to try to source and use as much local produce as we can to support other local businesses.
Who We Are
The owner of the Cool Gourmet is Isla Duncan, who took over the business back in 2009. Back then, the Cool Gourmet was a small shop in the centre of town providing freshly cooked and chilled take away meals and occasional outside catering.
When the opportunity arose , Isla made the move to bigger premises at their current location. The tearoom was opened and since then the business has grown arms, legs and then some, and lost some! The Cool Gourmet has been open at its current location for 11 years now and business is still going strong. In June 2016, we won the Best Stonehaven Business category in Scotland's Business Awards and in April 2017, we won Eatery of the Year in both the national and regional categories at the Scottish Independent Retail Awards.
Our success is a collective team effort. Isla does all of the cooking and is supported by a small, friendly team of staff who work very hard for the business. However, we wouldn't be as successful as we have been without the support of our loyal and amazing customers.
Where We Are
The Cool Gourmet is situated in an old bakery on the High Street in Stonehaven's historic Auld Toon. The tearoom has been recently renovated and can now seat up to 30 people.
We are very lucky to be close to some of Stonehaven's most picturesque areas with the harbour, boardwalk, beach and woods all within easy walking distance. Slightly further afield is the famous Dunnottar Castle and the Stonehaven War Memorial.
